Our love affair with Chesapeakes started in 2000 when we purchased our first Chesapeake puppy from a breeder in New Hampshire. I wanted a Golden Retriever and my husband wanted a Chesapeake, a breed I knew nothing about. Actually I had never even seen a chessie before. My husband told me that they were from the retriever family, but smarter than a Golden! (Sorry Golden lovers.) Although I brought up every possible excuse for not bringing a puppy home with us that day, we left with a little screaming and crying bundle of brown joy. Little did we know when we brought our “Chessea” home how dramatically she would impact our lives. Chessea turned out to be quite the character and the joy and pride she brought to our lives was contagious. We wanted more and to do more with these amazing dogs. Each one we have added to our family brings more of the same each in their own unique way. Our chessies are our pride and joy!
